# Find a person (https://www.getfounderhq.com/docs/analytics/guides/find-a-person)

**People** lists everyone FounderHQ has seen for a brand: visitors who
never said who they are, and people you know by name.

[Analytics → People](https://app.getfounderhq.com/analytics/people)

## The four stages

| Stage | Who |
| --- | --- |
| **Visitor** | Seen on your site or in a Journey, but has not told you who they are |
| **Lead** | Told you who they are, and has not paid yet |
| **Customer** | Pays now, or bought once, or belongs to an organization that pays |
| **Past customer** | Paid before, and nobody pays for them now |

A visitor with no name gets a generated one, so you can tell them apart.

## Find someone

- **Search** by name, email, phone, or your own user ID.
- **Stage** keeps one stage.
- **Filter** narrows by where people came from, where they are, what they
use, and by traits such as **Has paid**, **Has an email**, or
  **Unsubscribed**.
- **Segment** keeps the members of a segment. You build segments in
  [Sequences → Segments](https://app.getfounderhq.com/sequences/segments).

## Read one person

Click a person. Their sheet has these tabs.

| Tab | What it shows |
| --- | --- |
| **Activity** | Everything they did, by visit: pages, events, payments, and messages |
| **Details** | Who they are, their properties, their first and latest visit, and their devices |
| **Revenue** | MRR, lifetime total, and every payment and refund |
| **Performance** | How fast your pages loaded for them |
| **Messages** | What you sent them |
| **Segments** | The segments they are in |
| **Journeys** | The Journeys they answered |

The side of the sheet shows whether they are online, their revenue, their
IDs, and what first brought them.

## Organizations

Switch the list from **People** to **Organizations** to see the companies
your customers belong to, with their people, revenue, and last activity.
Organizations appear when your product reports them. See
[Accounts and groups](/analytics/concepts/accounts-and-groups).

## Add people

- **Add contact** adds one person.
- **Import CSV** adds many.

### Import a CSV

1. Press **Import CSV** and drop your file. It needs one contact per row
and a header row. **Download template** gives you the right shape.
2. Match your columns to **Email**, **External ID**, **Phone**,
**First name**, **Last name**, and **Timezone**.
3. Press **Import**.

The contacts appear within a minute. They are added to the brand you are
looking at.

## Change who can be messaged

Open a person's menu and choose **Reach** to unsubscribe or resubscribe
them on each channel. **Suppression list** at the top of People holds the
addresses that must never be messaged.

## Merge two people

When one person appears twice, the owner of your organization can merge
them. Open one person's menu and choose **Merge with another person…**.
Find the other, choose which one to keep, and confirm.

A merge cannot be undone. Revenue credit stays as it was recorded: press
**Recompute attribution** after the merge to update it.

## Delete a person

Open their menu and choose **Delete person**.
