# Chat with Astro (https://www.getfounderhq.com/docs/astro/chat-with-astro)

The chat works the same way in every product.

## Send a message

Type what you want and press **Send**. Be specific about the result: "Show
visitors by week for the last 3 months" gets a better answer than "show
traffic".

## Queue the next message

You do not have to wait for a reply to finish. Type the next message while
Astro works. It joins the **Queued** tray above the text box, and Astro
takes it when the current reply is done.

In the tray you can:

- Drag a message to change the order.
- Press **Edit** to change its text.
- Press **Remove from queue** to drop it.

## Stop a reply

Press the red square in the text box. Astro stops where it is.

## Attach an image

Press **Add images**, or paste an image into the text box. Astro accepts
images only. In some products you can also pick one from your Media
Library.

## Choose the model

The picker under the text box sets the provider, the model, and how hard
the model thinks.

| Setting | What it does |
| --- | --- |
| Provider and model | Which of your connected providers answers, and with which model. **Default** uses your provider's default. |
| **Thinking** | From **Low** to **Maximum**. More thinking is slower and better at hard questions. **Adaptive** lets the model decide. |

The picker reads **Add provider** when none is connected. A subscription
shows how much of your plan's allowance is used.

With an API key, **Custom** lets you add a model by name.

## Choose where it runs

Next to the model picker, the Companion picker chooses the machine that
runs the reply. **Auto** picks one for you. See
[Where Astro runs](/astro/where-astro-runs).

Hover a finished reply to see its **Reply origin**: which AI provider
answered and where it ran.

## Follow a long task

For a task with several steps, a **Checklist** tray shows above the text
box. It folds to one line with the progress and the current step. Click it
to see every step.

## Go back to an earlier chat

Open the chat switcher to see your older chats, or press **New chat** to
start a fresh one. Chats are kept per product, and per brand where the
product is.

**Delete chat** removes a conversation for good. Anything it made that you
saved, such as an insight or a draft, stays.

## Get told when Astro is done

When a reply takes more than a few seconds, FounderHQ offers to notify
you. Say yes, and your browser tells you when Astro finishes, even if you
moved to another tab.
