# Draft a post (https://www.getfounderhq.com/docs/compose/draft-a-post)

You write a post in a chat with Astro. Astro knows your past posts, your
voice, and your brands. About 10 minutes for a first post.

<Callout title="Before you start">
[Set up Compose](/compose/set-up) first, so Astro has your posts to work
from.
</Callout>

## 1. Start a chat

Open [Compose](https://app.getfounderhq.com/compose) and press **Start a new chat**. Check the
profile at the top of the sidebar: Astro drafts in that profile's voice.

## 2. Ask for ideas

Say what you want to write about. For example: "Give me five post ideas
about what I learned shipping our onboarding."

Astro answers with idea cards. Press the heart on one to save it. Saved
ideas are listed in [Compose → Ideas](https://app.getfounderhq.com/compose/ideas).

## 3. Turn an idea into a draft

Ask for it: "Draft the second one." Astro writes a draft card. You can
also skip the ideas and ask for a draft straight away.

Add an image to your message when the post is about something you can
show. Astro can also make an image for a draft, when your AI provider
generates images.

## 4. Review the draft

Press **Review draft** on the card. The draft opens beside the chat.

- **Type in it** to change the words yourself.
- **Select text** to make it bold, italic, underlined, or struck through.
- **Select text and press Improve** to leave a comment on that passage,
such as "too formal". Add as many comments as you like, then press
**Improve** in the chat. Astro revises the draft to answer them.

LinkedIn shows plain text only. Compose makes bold and italic with special
characters that LinkedIn displays as styled text.

## 5. Save it

Press **Save**. Every save is a new version, and so is every revision by
Astro. Open the version menu to go back: each entry says **Your edit** or
**Astro revision**.

Press the heart to keep the draft in [Compose → Drafts](https://app.getfounderhq.com/compose/drafts).

## 6. Post it on LinkedIn

Press **Copy post**. Open LinkedIn, start a post, and paste.

Compose does not post for you.

## Verify

After you publish, the post comes back into Compose with the next daily
check of your profile. Astro then learns from it too.

## Find a draft later

[Compose → Drafts](https://app.getfounderhq.com/compose/drafts) lists the drafts you saved, newest first.
Switch the filter to **All** to see every draft Astro generated. Click one
to review it, or press **Open in chat** to return to its conversation.

## Tips for better drafts

- Tell Astro who the post is for and what you want them to do.
- Paste a note, a metric, or a story. Astro writes better from specifics.
- Ask for the same idea in a different shape: shorter, as a list, or as a
  story.
