Export a video
Render your edit to an MP4 on your computer and in your Media Library.
Export turns your edit into one MP4 file. Your computer does the rendering, so the time it takes depends on your machine and on the length of the video.
Before you start
Use Chrome or Edge. In a browser that cannot render video, such as Safari, the export runs in Companion: keep it open and up to date.
Choose a preset
Open your edit and press Export, at the top right.
| Preset | Use it for |
|---|---|
| Reels / TikTok | The best quality. The largest file. |
| Web | A balance of quality and file size |
| Draft | A small file to share for feedback |
A preset changes the quality and the file size only. The size of the picture comes from the shape of your edit:
| Shape | Exported size |
|---|---|
| 9:16 | 1080 × 1920 |
| 16:9 | 1920 × 1080 |
| 1:1 | 1080 × 1080 |
| 4:3 | 1440 × 1080 |
| 3:4 | 1080 × 1440 |
| 21:9 | 2520 × 1080 |
| 9:21 | 1080 × 2520 |
To change the shape, use the Aspect ratio menu on the preview before you export.
Wait for the render
The button shows the progress as a percentage, then Saving to Library..., then Complete. Keep the tab open until it finishes.
Verify
- The MP4 is in your downloads folder, named after your edit.
- Open Studio → Media Library. The export is there too.
Troubleshoot
The export says to use Chrome or Edge
Your browser cannot render video and no Companion is online. Open the edit in Chrome or Edge, or start Companion and export again.
The export fails in Companion
Companion stops a render after 15 minutes. Export a shorter edit, or use the Draft preset.
