    Open the download and install FounderHQ Companion.

  2. Pair

    Companion opens a page in your browser. Approve it, and this computer is linked to your account.

    Companion waits in your menu bar or system tray and picks up work when FounderHQ has some.

Questions worth asking.

Do I need Companion to use FounderHQ?

Not with an API key. Companion is how FounderHQ runs on the Claude or ChatGPT subscription you already have: your subscription runs on your own computer, never on our servers without your consent. Companion also exports Studio videos and captions recordings there.

Which Mac download do I need?

Open the Apple menu and choose About This Mac. If it shows a chip that starts with Apple, download Apple silicon. If it shows an Intel processor, download Intel.

Does my computer have to stay on?

Companion picks up work while your computer is on and online. Work that needs it waits until your computer is back.

Does every computer do the same work?

Almost. Captions are made on Apple silicon Macs and on Linux. An Intel Mac does everything else.

Can I run it on a server?

Yes. On Linux, Companion runs with no screen: as a Docker container, or as a service on Debian and Ubuntu. It prints a link and a code, and you pair it from any browser where you are signed in to FounderHQ.

How do I update or remove it?

The Mac app and the Linux AppImage update by themselves. For the .deb, run the install command again; for a server, pull the new image. To remove a computer, unpair it in FounderHQ under Settings, then Companion Apps, and delete the app.
