Organizations and brands
How your account, your team, and the things you grow fit together.
FounderHQ has two levels. The organization is your account. A brand is something you grow inside it.
Organization
An organization is the shared account. It holds:
- Your team and their roles
- Your plan, your bill, and your credits
- Your brands
Most people have one. You can belong to several and switch between them from your avatar menu, where Create organization starts a new one. A new organization has its own plan and its own bill.
Brand
A brand is one of three things:
| Type | Use it for |
|---|---|
| Company | A business or organization |
| Product | A specific product or app |
| Person | A personal or creator brand |
A brand holds what Astro needs to write and plan for it: your website, your one-line description, your audience, your colors, your social accounts, and your competitors.
For a solo founder, the organization and the brand are usually the same company. You only need a second brand when you grow a second thing.
What belongs to a brand
Each of these belongs to exactly one brand:
- An API key
- A payment connection, such as your Stripe account
- A blog connection in Publish
- A sending channel in Sequences
- Contacts, events, and revenue in Analytics
So a second brand starts empty. It gets its own keys, its own connections, and its own numbers. The brand switcher at the top of each product's sidebar chooses which brand you are looking at.
What belongs to the organization
- Team members and seats
- The plan and its limits, shared across all brands
- Credits
