Send a broadcast

Send one message to a whole audience, now or at a set time, and see who opened and clicked.

A broadcast sends one message to one audience, once: a product update, a launch, a newsletter. A sequence, by contrast, messages people one by one as they act. About 10 minutes.

Before you start

You need a sending channel connected, and a segment for your audience. Build one in Sequences → Segments.

Create the broadcast

Open Sequences → Broadcasts and press New broadcast. Name it, such as "October product update".

Choose who gets it

SettingWhat it does
SegmentThe audience
Leave outSegments to exclude, such as people who already bought
Skip people we just messagedLeaves out anyone you messaged in the last 4 to 72 hours

FounderHQ shows how many people will get it, and how many are skipped and why: unsubscribed, no address for this channel, left out, or messaged recently.

Choose the message

Pick the channel, the connection to Send from, and the Kind of message: Marketing or Service. Then write the message here, or press Use a template.

Set a goal (optional)

Enter a Goal event, such as a purchase, and how many days it Counts for. The report then shows how many recipients reached it.

Choose when

  • Send now, or
  • Schedule for later, at least 5 minutes ahead. Turn on Each person's time zone to reach everyone at the same local hour.

Test, then send

Press Send a test to get the message yourself.

FounderHQ checks the broadcast and lists anything to fix: no unsubscribe link, a broken link, an image with no description, a subject that is too long, a variable with no fallback.

Press Send to N people, or Schedule, and confirm.

Verify

The broadcast moves to Sent, or to Coming up when it is scheduled. Open it and choose Report.

Follow up

On a sent broadcast, Send again to… starts a new one for the People who didn't open, the People who didn't click, or the People who didn't reach the goal.

Stop or cancel

  • Cancel stops a scheduled broadcast before it starts.
  • Stop sending halts one that is going out. Messages already sent stay sent.
